Press Releases

June 3, 2012, Thorncroft Equestrian Center, Malvern, PA, Thorncroft proudly dedicates the brand new Jimmy Moran Arena during the 3rd Annual Lobster Bake. The Moran Family Charitable Foundation generously funded the new arena, enabling Thorncroft to add new programs while rejuvenating older programs.

Since 1969, Thorncroft has provided rehabilitative services to thousands of children and adults with special needs. In 1992 founder Saunders Dixon donated 10 acres of his farm to Thorncroft to help continue the program he founded. Under the generous leadership of Board Chairman George F. Rubin, in May 2010 Thorncroft made the decision to put the entire 70 acre Farm under an Open Space Easement so that the Farm would remain open and undeveloped forever.

Thanks to the Moran family’s benevolence and belief in Thorncroft’s mission, we are eager to continue development on our intellectual disabilities program. Future plans for the Jimmy Moran Arena include working with veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  The Intellectual Disabilities program also caters to riders with anxiety, depression, and other psychological disorders.

The 3rd Annual Lobster Bake will be a celebration to formally and festively bring the Open Space and building projects to a close and commence a new era for Thorncroft. The event lasts from 4:30pm- 7:30 pm with a historic ribbon cutting at 5:15.
